Researchers now say that sleep apnoea is associated with hearing impairment after a study conducted with Hispanic subjects. It is believed that the underlying inflammation in the blood vessels will affect tissues associated with hearing. Sleep apnoea was associated with a 31% increase in high-frequency hearing impairment, and a 90% increase in low-frequency hearing impairment.
