Body Mass Index Based on Weight and Height is Not Accurate

A lot of people have been relying on body mass index (BMI) measurements for determining their fitness levels. However, recent research says that the body mass index, based on weight and height, is not an accurate measure of body fat content. This is important because classifying people as obese means they are more prone to develop diabetes, heart diseases, sleep apnoea, cancer and other diseases. Thus there is a need for accurate, practical and affordable tools to measure fat and skeletal muscle, and biomarkers that can better predict the risks of diseases and mortality.
