Better Sleep Leads to Better Looks, Study Confirms
Sleep apnoea when left untreated will lead to a rise in the risk of stroke, high blood pressure, diabetes and obesity. Sleep apnoea is treated through CPAP which keeps mild air pressure blowing through the nose to keep the airways open.
A study from the University of Michigan health system has found that CPAP therapy increases the physical attractiveness of the users. The study was in view of anecdotal evidence by sleep center staff that a difference in appearance was noted in patients using CPAP. According to Ronald Chervin, M.D., M.S., director of the U-M Sleep Disorders Center, distinct changes in study subjects were noted through face mapping techniques.
