Lack of sleepA study has revealed that people who fail to get up to seven hours of sleep were four times likely to suffer from a stroke and twice greater risk of heart attack. The researchers pointed out that sleep disorders are equally as bad as smoking and lack of exercise in triggering heart attacks and other heart conditions.

Sleep is not a trivial matter according to Professor Valery Gafarov of the WHO. Good sleep quality will call for seven to nine hours of sleep per night. Failure to get good quality sleep should inform the need to see a doctor. The findings concluded that poor sleep should be considered a modifiable risk factor for cardiovascular disease.
