Association of Glucose Transporter 4 Genetic Polymorphisms with OSA Syndrome in Han Chinese General Population: A cross-section

Obstructive sleep apnoea can lead to stroke, heart disease and metabolic syndrome. A recent study assessed whether GLUT4 gene polymorphisms are associated with OSAS. Patients hospitalized at People's Hospital of Xinjiang were selected from January to December 2010. The authors performed GLUT4 genome sequencing and found 4 mutated sites. This study demonstrates that GLUT4 gene SNPrs5417 is associated with OSAS in a hypertensive population. Carriers of AA + AC have less prevalence of obstructive sleep apnoea syndrome than that of CC carriers.
