Americans are Popping Sleeping Pills in Record Numbers
Sleep is becoming more and more elusive for many Americans. A study undertaken by the Federal Government indicates that the usage of sleeping pills is on the rise. More than nine million Americans are dependent on prescription sleeping drugs to get a good night’s sleep.
Highlights of the report from the study are that approximately four percent of US adults above the age of 20 years use prescription sleeping drugs. The use of sleeping aids was highest among adults who sleep less than five hours and those who slept more than nine hours. Use of the sleeping aids was highest among women and is also a factor of age and education.
