Research indicates that sleep posture can affect sleep quality, health and overall quality of life. Poor sleep posture has been known to aggravate sleep apnoea, back pain, fatigue, headaches, and heartburn will fall back blocking the airway. Sleeping on the side is recommended for better sleep quality and to eliminate sleep apnoea and snoring. Sleeping on the back is good for the back/spine but may worsen sleep apnoea.
